People have skewed the term "sell out" into some kind of monstrous thing...does anyone understand what making a living is on this site? Have integrity while you sell, big deal.

guess it depends on the situation to sell out or keep your integrity. like not selling out good friends but selling out a thief.

INTEGRITY. because integrity is a starting point for a great sell-out.

integrity cause this is what i love to do and i want to keep it that way. a sell-out lets other people corupt his/her work so it earn more money but then its nolonger my work.

the reason i ask this is because when that happens is i normally end up just giving the art away

what if i have a set goal to what im trying to reach my art style to, but havent quite reached it yet? for example having a set image in my mind knowing the way to draw it but when i do, its completely different from what i pictured. like my mind wonders once my pencil touches the paper.
does that make me a sell out? or a really bad case of A.D.D?

I think the key is to find a way to make money doing what you love. That way, your never really a sell out. To me, being a sell out is doing something you hate or dislike simply for money. Just because people pay good money for what you do and maybe even offer suggestions on what you should do doesn't necessarily make one a sell-out. Also, I find that when ever someone does crappy work after being successful, they are called a sell out. To me... that's not being a sell out...its just being lazy. Success can breed laziness. Lord knows...if I was a huge success... I'd be sipping Margaritas poolside and not doing art today LOL.
